Publisher Konami is probably parting ways with Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima, and that puts its Silent Hills project in limbo as well.

Now, we have more bad news for that horror game. On April 29, you will no longer have the opportunity to download P.T. (which stands for Playable Teaser). Konami has revealed on the Silent Hills website that it will remove the game from the PlayStation Network. This was the small promotional experience that Konami released last year for free to announce it is making a new Silent Hill.

We’ve reached out to Konami for an explanation.

You can download P.T. or at least tie it to your system by going to the P.T. PSN store page. If you own the game, you should have access to it forever even once it’s no longer available on the store.

Taking anything off of a downloadable store is an odd move, but this is especially weird considering the current state of Konami. The publisher made a big deal about Silent Hills last year, and it especially emphasized that Kojima would oversee production. But the company has not confirmed that he is still directing or that Silent Hills is even in development following reports that have come out claiming Kojima is leaving Konami.

In March, Metal Gear Solid fans started noticing that Konami had removed all references to Kojima from the promotional material for the upcoming Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Previously, posters and box art read “A Hideo Kojima game,” but Konami removed that from its Web site and elsewhere. In the following days, Konami came out and told fans that Kojima is finishing The Phantom Pain and that the company was looking ahead to hire a new team to work on future Metal Gear releases.

But Konami would not say whether Kojima was sticking around, which seemed to many as a de facto confirmation that the two parties are going to split ways after the release of MGS V.

Throughout this time, Konami has not said one word about Silent Hills despite repeated requests for information.

It’s possible that Konami wants to take P.T. off the PSN store so that it no longer has something that publicly blares “Hideo Kojima is making Silent Hills” if that’s no longer the case.
