Silent Hills is finally, officially cancelled.

What was once supposed to be a collaboration with Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima and movie director Guillermo del Toro is done. After a wave of negative rumors, including del Toro himself saying that the project wasn’t going to happen, Konami finally confirmed the cancellation today.

“Konami is committed to new Silent Hill titles, however the embryonic Silent Hills project developed with Guillermo del Toro and featuring the likeness of Norman Reedus will not be continued,” the publisher told Polygon.

Silent Hills’ slow stroll to possible oblivion started when Kojima and Konami’s relationship became a bit of a mess in March, with Kojima’s name suddenly disappearing off of sites and promotional artwork for his games. It seems likely that he’ll be done with Konami once he finishes Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, which comes out Sept. 1 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.

Konami is also removing P.T., a playable teaser for Silent Hills, from the PlayStation 4 digital store on April 26, saying that the distribution period and license usage within the demo have both now expired. Also, Norman Reedus, the actor who was originally going to star in the reboot, said on Twitter that he was bummed the project isn’t happening.

Konami at least explained the Reedus situation to GameStop by saying that their contract period with the actor expired.
