Another classic gaming franchise is hoping for a Kickstarter-fueled comeback.

We already knew that The Bard’s Tale IV was going to have its own crowdfunding campaign, but the effort launched today. InXile, which previously had games Wasteland 2 and Torment: Tides of Numenera successfully funded on Kickstarter, is seeking $1.25 million to make a new installment in the classic Bard’s Tale series. InXile says that it will add at least $1.25 million of its own money to fund the game if the Kickstarter meets its goal.

To help incentivize people to fund early, anyone who gives at least $20 to the campaign in its first 24 hours gets a digital PC copy of either Wasteland 2, The Witcher, or The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings. That deal ends on Wednesday at 6 a.m. Pacific.

The originally trilogy of Bard’s Tale games were PC role-playing games in the ’80s. The series had a short revival in 2004 with a new game simply called The Bard’s Tale, however, this new take was an action-adventure and also came out on consoles. InXile is billing The Bard’s Tale IV as a role-playing game again, with a focus on exploring dungeons.
