Start saving those bottle caps, because Bethesda is taking us back to the apocalypse.

Fallout 4 is happening. The next entry in the open-world role-playing adventure series is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, according to some images leaked from the official website. This is the latest project from publisher Bethesda’s primary development team that most recently worked on the beloved The Elder Srolls V: Skyrim. That is one of the best-selling releases from last generation, and Fallout 4 has the potential to have that same level of success on the newer systems. Bethesda promises to reveal all of the details about the game — which possibly includes a release date — at its upcoming media presentation prior to the start of the Electronic Entertainment Expo trade show on June 14.

“We know what this game means to everyone,” Fallout 4 director Todd Howard said. “The time and technology have allowed us to be more ambitious than ever. We’ve never been more excited about a game, and we can’t wait to share it.”

Boston!

We’re headed back to the East Coast to survive the nuclear winter because war … war never changes. I cannot wait for the inevitable mission that has players dumping tea into the harbor.

The trailer above reveals a few interesting aspects of the Fallout 4. First, it has a heavy emphasis on the dog character. Second, it intercuts narrative between prewar and postwar times. Maybe we’ll finally learn what caused the end of the world … I’m betting it has something to do with Vladimir Putin.

We’ll have more on Fallout 4 as we approach its release and as we get our hands on it. It’s possible we’ll get to play it later this month at the Electronic Entertainment Expo trade show in Los Angeles.
