Witching, it appears, is a popular activity among gamers.

Developer CD Projekt Red has confirmed that it has sold more than 4 million copies of its latest release The Witcher III: Wild Hunt. For comparison, the first two Witcher games have only sold around 6 million copies total. In a letter to fans, CD Projekt Red cofounder Marcin Iwiński thanked his community. He also promised to continue supporting the open-world role-playing game with downloadable content and updates to fix bugs and more. But, really, this post from Iwiński seemed liked a chance to express gratitude for the fastest-selling Witcher release yet.

“I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank the 4 million gamers worldwide who bought The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in the first two weeks from launch,” wrote Iwiński. “Four million RPG fans spending their hard-earned money on our game is a sign that we did something right, and you can be sure that we’ll harness all that positive energy and make the upcoming expansions worthy of the grand adventure that you’re telling us Wild Hunt already is.”

The studio also seems pleased with the reviews for The Witcher III, which are almost universally positive.

“In terms of media reception, we’re really humbled by the scores the game has received all around the world,” wrote Iwiński. “With an average of 90-plus [Metacritic score] on every platform, Wild Hunt is our dream coming true.”

CD Projekt Red is already planning two major expansions in addition to the 16 pieces of free DLC it is planning to release on a weekly basis. The first is coming in October, and it’s called Hearts of Stone. The second is Blood and Wine, and it’ll debut in the first quarter of 2016.
