Updated 6/16 at 7:35 pm: Added new details from the PC Gaming Show
LOS ANGELES — Agent 47 is back, and he has free gifts for PlayStation 4 owners.
During its press briefing at the Electronic Entertainment Expo tradeshow tonight, Sony Computer Entertainment revealed that developer IO Interactive is working on a new entry in its long-running stealth action series. Simply called Hitman (for PS4 and PC), this new game will have an exclusive beta on PS4. Additionally, owners of Sony’s latest console will have six exclusive contract missions in the game.
Sony’s Asad Qizilbash said you’ll get to travel to “exotic locations” to kill “high-profile targets.” He also noted that it’s the most ambitious Hitman game IO Interactive has ever created. Neither company gave a release date for the new Hitman.

A day after the unveiling at Sony’s briefing, IO Interactive offered more details about Hitman at the inaugural PC Gaming Show, a presentation at E3 centered on PC games. Production designer Hakan Abrak said that the new Hitman is “six or seven times bigger” than the previous entries in the series. He showed footage of a level set in Paris during a fashion show.
Hitman will arrive on PC on Dec. 8 as a digital download. Abrak didn’t say if PlayStation 4 owners will be able to play it on that day as well.
