You don’t need arms and legs for adventures, but you will need a smartphone or tablet.

Publisher Ubisoft announced Rayman Adventures today, which will come to smartphones and tablets this fall. Similar to previous mobile releases Rayman Jungle Run and Rayman Fiesta Run, Rayman Adventures is a 2D platformer with bright, cartoony visuals. It carries over an art-style originally created for the series with Rayman Origins, which came out in 2011 for consoles, PC, and portables.

Ubisoft is promising some graphical improvements for the game. “Powered by UbiArt Framework, Rayman Adventures represents a major step in bringing players an HD console-quality experience on mobile, displaying a variety of impressive graphical details on a retina screen at 60 FPS,” a Ubisoft press release sent to GamesBeat noted. “The improved game engine also boasts spectacular new dynamic fluid particle effects which move and react when the players moves through them.”

The Rayman series actually started out as 2D platformers when the original game came out in 1995. 1999’s Rayman 2: The Great Escape was a 3D platformer, but the franchise eventually returned to its sidescroller roots with Rayman Origins.
