SurveyMonkey appoints former HP COO Bill Veghte as new CEO

Online survey platform SurveyMonkey announced today the person who succeeds Dave Goldberg as CEO. Bill Veghte, Hewlett-Packard’s former COO and lead of its enterprise group, will take over SurveyMonkey starting August 3. He has also been named as a board member, joining newly installed directors David Ebersman and Goldberg’s widow, Sheryl Sandberg. Goldberg died in a treadmill accident in May.

In a statement, SurveyMonkey’s board chairman said:

The board found in Bill Veghte an insightful and energetic leader who will leverage SurveyMonkey’s global scale and profitability into a much larger business We believe Bill’s stellar track record in both consumer and enterprise markets makes him the ideal candidate to succeed Dave Goldberg. Bill will continue to deliver on SurveyMonkey’s expansion from a survey tool to an insights platform.

Prior to joining SurveyMonkey, Veghte led the Hewlett-Packard Enterprise group, where he took credit for increasing employee engagement, steered the business from declining revenue, acquired wireless networking company Aruba, and updated its product portfolio. Additionally, he helped lead the separation of HP Enterprise from its parent company, which was announced in 2014.

Following the loss of Goldberg, SurveyMonkey had been led by GoPro executive Zander Lurie as executive chairman; Lurie is expected to remain on the company’s board.
