Amazon Web Services launches CodeCommit and CodePipeline tools

Amazon Web Services today made its CodeCommit hosted Git repository service and CodePipeline continuous delivery tool available for companies to use.

Werner Vogels, chief technology officer of Amazon, announced the news at the AWS Summit conference in New York today. Both services were first teased at the AWS re:Invent conference in November but have not been available to use until now.

These tools are just the latest services Amazon is making available for companies so they no longer have to stitch together software tools from many vendors. Amazon is the largest public cloud provider going today, and the rapid release of features like these helps Amazon keeps its lead.

Google, one of Amazon’s most visible competitors in the public cloud market, in the past few months has quietly launched a hosted Git repository of its own, as VentureBeat reported last month.

A blog post has more on the launch of CodePipeline, which integrates with Apica, BlazeMeter, and Runscope, as well as GitHub. It costs $1 per pipeline per month.

CodeCommit costs $1 per active user per month, according to the pricing page for the service.
