We hope you weren’t planning to practice your PlayStation 4 hadukens this weekend.

The Street Fighter V beta on PlayStation 4 just launched last night, but players have been unable to connect to the game’s servers. Now, Capcom is temporarily suspending the beta and initiating a period of extended maintenance.

While betas are by definitions a test, they’ve become public purchase incentives for the public. The Street Fighter V beta was available for anyone who preordered the fighting game, a pretty common practice for online titles these days. Having to take it offline immediately isn’t exactly a comforting sign, but hopefully Capcom use the beta test to improve online stability and guarantee it remains online when the game officially comes out early next year.

Capcom does not know when the game will become available again. However, it will extend the beta, which was supposed to end Tuesday, once it comes back online.
