At its “tasty new treats” event in San Francisco today, Google announced the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P, succeeding the Nexus 5 and Nexus 6 respectively. Google’s seventh-generation phones are now official.

Preorders begin today, and the devices will begin shipping in October. In short, if you’re coming from the Nexus 5 to the Nexus 5X, this is a bigger upgrade (it’s been two years after all), though you’ll have to pay a little bit more. If you’re upgrading from the Nexus 6 to the Nexus 6P, you’re getting a little bit more but paying a lot less.
