Dome9, a startup with cloud-based software for deploying and managing security configurations on cloud infrastructure, is announcing today an $8.3 million round of funding.
Dome9 allows admins to examine firewall rules, tables of IP addresses and ports, and incoming web traffic for individual instances. And it’s easy to drill down to get answers to impromptu questions.
“You can run these queries in Dome9 in one second, while it will take you a lot of scripting and a lot of time do similar things without us,” cofounder and chief technology officer Roy Feintuch told VentureBeat in an interview.
Just as many startups monitoring the use of cloud software have taken on plenty of funding (think Skyhigh and Netskope) or have been acquired (Adallom), the market for ensuring secure use of cloud infrastructure for running applications has also been growing. Indeed, Dome9 now has more than 250 paying customers, including Citrix, Cloud Technology Partners, Nexgate, and TradAir. As public cloud usage grows, interest in cloud infrastructure security tools such as Dome9 should increase as well.
