Warner Bros. re-released one of this year’s biggest action games on PC last week, but Batman: Arkham Knight is still broken for many gamers.
Now the publisher is offering full refunds on Batman: Arkham Knight through the Steam digital store until the end of 2015, no matter how much time you’ve spent in the game. “We worked hard to get the game to live up to the standard you deserve but understand that many of you are still experiencing issues,” read a statement on the Steam community forum. “Until the end of 2015, we will be offering a full refund on Batman: Arkham Knight PC, regardless of how long you have played the product. You can also return the Season Pass along with the main game (but not separately). ”
Digital store Green Man Gaming has now confirmed that it’ll also honor refunds for Batman: Arkham Knight until the end of the year. Potentially refunding all digital sales of the game through these two stores will prove costly to Warner Bros. More importantly, though, the publisher’s reputation in the PC gaming community has been badly damaged by the problematic original release and its failure to deliver a comprehensive fix.
Batman: Arkham Knight released back in June, and the PC version was unplayable for most. Warner Bros. suspended physical and digital sales of the game while it worked on a fix. That fix has proved a big disappointment, though, with Eurogamer saying, “We hoped that the re-release of the game would present marked, tangible improvement. Unfortunately, that hasn’t happened.”
Warner Bros. says that it will continue to work on fixing Arkham Knight for any PC gamers willing to stick with it. “For those of you that hold onto the game, we are going to continue to address the issues that we can fix and talk to you about the issues that we cannot fix,” continued the statement.
