It’s nearly time for Pilgrim’s Bounty, and that’s going to keep everyone at Blizzard too busy to release new content for its collectible-card battler.
Hearthstone is in the second week of getting five wings for its League of Explorers adventure, and while the second episode goes live tomorrow, Blizzard has confirmed it is skipping next week. That’s because next Thursday is the Thanksgiving holiday in the United States, and since Blizzard has its headquarters in the U.S., the publisher will probably let its developers stay at home to enjoy turkey and stuffing instead of launching a new part of its latest adventure.
Here’s how Blizzard support forum agent Jurannok explained it on the Hearthstone message boards:
“New wings of the Explorer’s league open on Thursday. With the exception of the week after this one. The explorers are taking a week off to celebrate Pilgrim’s Bounty.”
Of course, Hearthstone is a huge international hit, so this is probably a bit frustrating for players in countries who don’t care that Americans are only thankful on one day a year. But this a precious day for us. It’s when we enter our annual tryptophan comas and watch the Detroit Lions lose a football game where you’re allowed to use your hands. I know that’s confusing and scary.
League of Explorers will return on the following Thursday, December 3, with the third wing. In the meantime, why don’t you try some cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie — I promise you’ll thank me for the suggestion.
