Star Wars: Battlefront isn’t the only new release from a galaxy far, far away.

Publisher Electronic Arts just released Galaxy of Heroes for iOS and Android today. It is the company’s new free-to-play take on Star Wars. We’ve put about 45 minutes into playing it so far, and we’ve found that is a simple-but-confident character battler. It seems like EA’s developer, Capital Games, is putting most of the emphasis on collecting characters and powering them up. It plays more like that Marvel: Avengers Alliance social game that Playdom released in 2012 on Facebook before moving it to mobile more recently. And while I am not a high enough level yet to try the player-versus-player mode, I don’t see much here that reminds me of Hearthstone or Magic: The Gathering. Put simply, that means the mechanics don’t require deep strategy, and Galaxy of Heroes can almost play itself. But you may remain engaged just to find the heroes you want.

I, however, don’t need Han Solo or Darth Vader. I found me a generic Jedi, Chewie, and a Jawa, and my team laid a beating down on the Dark Side of The Force. And all of that happened in the first 40 minutes of the game, which you can check out for yourself by pressing play on the video below:
