Atlassian Bitbucket now lets you deploy code to AWS, Microsoft Azure, DigitalOcean

Atlassian, an Australian software company preparing to go public on the NASDAQ, is announcing today that developers can now deploy code from Atlassian’s Bitbucket source code repository software onto public clouds from Amazon, Microsoft, and DigitalOcean, right from within Bitbucket.

There’s support for Amazon Web Services’ CodeDeploy service and Microsoft’s Azure App Service, Atlassian product marketing manager Amber Frauenholtz wrote in a blog post on the news. Support for additional cloud services could be on the way.

“Bitbucket’s Connect architecture takes this a level beyond a simple ‘click to deploy’ button,” Frauenholtz wrote. “The ability of add-ons to add features into the user interface means you can configure your deployment environments without leaving Bitbucket. These cloud services have worked with us to build add-ons to make your life easier.”

In the business of code repositories for multiple versions of code that many people can work on, GitHub plays a leading role. But Atlassian is big, with many configurations of its tools — including JIRA and HipChat — available for customers, and now the company is making Bitbucket more powerful.

Atlassian first got into the source code repository business by buying SourceTree, in 2011.

The company is also announcing today a new integration of its Bamboo Cloud continuous delivery software with Bitbucket. The Bamboo server software will get a Bitbucket integration “in a few weeks,” Frauenholtz wrote.
