Two decades ago, Nintendo released Pokémon Red and Blue in Japan. Now, as the franchise continues charming people around the world, the companies responsible for the delightful little monsters want to celebrate.
Pokémon first debuted on the Game Boy on February 27, 1996. To commemorate that date, The Pokémon Company is declaring February 27, 2016, Pokémon Day. This will bring fans of the games together at retail locations around the world. You can even expect to see a Pokémon commercial during the Super Bowl.
As part of this push, Nintendo will release Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow on the 3DS eShop on February 27. The publisher previously announced these games, which are the original Game Boy releases updated with wireless-trading features.
