VC Mobile Entertainment is counting one one of the most landmark names in PC role-playing game history to propel its next release to success.
The mobile gaming studio shows off Creature Quest today, from Might & Magic creator Jon Van Caneghem. It comes from a Los Angeles startup that has a fighting chance to get noticed in the $30 billion mobile game industry, where standing out is getting increasingly hard to pull off.
Creature Quest is a blend of a fantasy role-playing and a strategy game, a blend that Van Caneghem first pulled off with the debut of Heroes of Might and Magic in 1995 (and it’s a franchise that’s still in production today). It’s done a “soft launch” on the Apple iTunes App store in New Zealand, Hong Kong, Ireland, Australia, and the Netherlands. It will debut on more platforms and regions later this year.
“From the very beginning of my career, I wanted to make games that I loved to play,” Van Caneghem said in a statement. “That same principle drives everyone here at VC Mobile Entertainment. The entire team has incredible passion for Creature Quest, and we are very excited to finally share the game and all of its upcoming content for many years to come.”
