Silicon Valley mourns Andy Grove, a leader and immigrant who taught it how to compete

Andy Grove wasn’t born and bred in Silicon Valley, but the Hungarian immigrant taught it how to be competitive with the rest of the world. The former CEO of Intel, which became the world’s largest chip maker under Grove’s leadership, passed away at 79 today.

Here’s our tribute to Grove, who was named Time magazine’s Man of the Year in 1997. And Silicon Valley’s own leaders expressed themselves on Twitter.
