Eager Tesla fans spanning Australia, Asia, Europe, and the U.S. are waiting in line this morning (a la Apple) to put a $1,000 deposit on the upcoming $35,000 Model 3, a car nobody outside the company has ever seen before.

At the time of writing, over 100 people — physicians, bankers, engineers, existing Tesla owners, etc. — were waiting in line at Tesla’s Dublin, California showroom to put down a deposit on the long-awaited car, which isn’t expected to ship until at least 2017.

Here’s a look at the Dublin line — one of many — courtesy of technology evangelist and writer Robert Scoble.

“I feel like it’s the iPhone of the cars,” said one man in line at the Dublin showroom when asked by Scoble, “Why are you buying a car you haven’t seen yet?”

“It’s a Tesla. I don’t care what it looks like,” said another man in the queue.

The car is expected to be unveiled tonight by Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk at 8:30 p.m. PT.
