HP is unveiling two luxury laptops based on its HP Spectre ultra-thin notebook design.

The limited edition models of the HP Spectre include an 18-karat gold model created by Dutch designer Tord Boontje and a gold-plated and diamond model from jewelry designer Jess Hannah. The company is unveiling the laptops at the New York Times International Luxury Conference in Versailles, France. That’s a clear sign that geek lust can coexist alongside Lamborghini sports cars and Tiffany jewelry in the eyes of the rich and famous.

The laptops are based on the 13.3-inch HP Spectre, which HP calls the world’s thinnest laptop at 10.4 millimeters thickness.

The Tord Boontje model comes with 18-karat gold-plated accents with a cherry blossom design. It is midnight blue and embedded with Swarovski crystals set in a floral pattern.

Meanwhile, the model from Los Angeles jewelry designer Jess Hannah is completely plated in 18-karat gold with a polished finish. The new HP Premium logo is encrusted with diamonds, each placed by a diamond setter. The keyboard deck also has 18-karat gold plating, and the power button is covered with diamonds.

“We have brought in the designers to create an extraordinary experience on our thinnest laptop ever, reinventing how luxury design and powerful laptop technology can come together to create spectacular works of art,” said Stacy Wolff, vice president of design at the personal systems division of HP, in a statement. “We are showcasing the possibilities of marrying technology with glitz and glamour, allowing the PC to become an expression of style.”

The PCs will be auctioned off, with proceeds benefiting the Nelson Mandela Foundation.
