The mobile version of Mortal Kombat X is celebrating its first birthday, and Warner Bros. Interactive is marking the occasion by releasing its biggest of wave of content yet for the free-to-play fighter.
The update is out now for iOS devices, with an Android release coming soon. Right now, Mortal Kombat X is the No. 166 ranked game on the iOS App Store, according to App Annie. At its height last year, it was No. 1. New content like this can help bring back old players.
“Blood Rubies, a new type of currency obtained through Faction Wars, have now been implemented and can be used in the brand-new Faction War store,” Warner Bros. Interactive noted in a press release sent to GamesBeat. “Improved leaderboards and more frequent Faction War seasons give players more opportunities to win and earn rewards.”
The anniversary update also brings new balance updates and improves the matchmaking system. It also includes new gold characters (the highest tier of fighter in the game), equipment, and missions.
