Bandai Namco Games announced Tekken 7 will arrive on the Xbox One early in 2017.

Microsoft made the announcement at its press briefing today in advance of the Electronic Entertainment Expo, the big game trade show in Los Angeles that officially begins tomorrow. Fighting games are a small but highly beloved part of the worldwide, $99.6 billion global game market, and they have drawn a competitive, engaged esports scene.

The graphics in the scene looked amazing, but it was all cinematics. At least as far as I could tell. It featured heroes like Kazumi, saying things like, “Welcome to your doom.” And “Let’s settle this.” But the scene moved into a 1-on-1 side view battle with a demon named Akuma — and a destructive battle ensued.

During E3, Microsoft said it will give Tekken Tag Tournament 2 via backward compatibility for free to Xbox Live Gold Members. Katsushiro Harada, the game director, said the game will have a story mode.
