Nintendo actually announced something new during the Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles today.

The game is Ever Oasis, a new intellectual property for the Japanese company. It’s an action role-playing title for the 3DS handheld system. Ever Oasis has a desert setting, and it allows players to build their own town and fight through dungeons. It will come out in 2017. You can watch a trailer for Ever Oasis below.

Grezzo is developing Ever Oasis. Its founder is Koichi Ishii, who is known for his work on the prominent action role-playing series Secret of Mana at Square Enix. He also worked on the early Final Fantasy games. He left Square Enix and started Grezzo in 2007.

Before Ever Oasis, Grezzo had helped Nintendo make 3DS versions of classic Zelda games like Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask. Grezzo also worked on last year’s The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes, an original title that focused on three-player co-op action.

E3, one of the biggest industry shows of the year, usually brings new game announcements. However, Nintendo earlier said that it would focus on The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild at this year’s event. Ever Oasis is a pleasant surprise for Nintendo and RPG fans.
