Microsoft releases new Windows 10 preview for PCs with Amazon Assistant Edge extension

Microsoft today announced the release of a new Windows 10 build for PCs and mobile for people participating in the fast ring of the Windows Insider Program.

Build 14390 for both PC and Windows 10 Mobile arrives just three days after Microsoft rolled out build 14388. Just like with other builds issued in the past few weeks, Microsoft isn’t changing a whole lot with today’s build, as it’s preparing to release the Windows 10 Anniversary Update, which is due out on August 2.

The most interesting addition included in this PC build is the Amazon Assistant browser extension for Microsoft Edge. “Amazon Assistant helps you make better decisions wherever you shop online by giving you access to Deal of the Day, Product Comparison, Wish List and Shortcuts to your favorite Amazon destinations,” Dona Sarkar, a software engineer in Microsoft’s Windows and Devices Group, wrote in a blog post. You can install the extension by clicking the ellipses in the top right corner of the browser window, hitting “Extensions,” clicking “Get extensions from the Store,” finding Amazon Assistant, and clicking the “Free” button. The extension requires build 14379 or any build newer than that.

The Developer Mode issue that popped up in build 14388 is now fixed, Sarkar wrote.

But the issue with Secure Boot in Windows Server Technical Preview 5 is still applicable in this build. As Sarkar indicated before, if you want to use the software for the moment, turn off Secure Boot.
