Pretty Little Liars is debuting today on Pocket Gems’ Episode interactive storytelling mobile app. The app will give fans the chance to continue following their favorite characters from the Pretty Little Liars television show, even after it airs its final season in 2017.
San Francisco-based Pocket Gems launched its Episode mobile app in 2014, and now its 37,000 stories — which are akin to choice-driven digital comic books — have been viewed more than 2.2 billion times. It has become a new kind of medium on mobile, where fans can engage with it on a daily basis. That has spurred companies such as Warner Bros., which owns the Pretty Little Liars show, to join the Episode platform.
Pretty Little Liars is live on the Episode app, which is available on the App Store for iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch and on Google Play for Android devices. It is a choice-driven story where the user can pick various paths throughout, which impact the story’s progression. It puts fans in the center of a fresh storyline set during the first season of the show. The story returns to Rosewood, Pennsylvania, with all the key characters — Aria, Hanna, Spencer, Emily, and the mysterious “A.”
“Episode is the best place in the world for great mobile stories, and ‘Pretty Little Liars’ is one of the most memorable shows of this generation,” said Michael Dawson, Episode’s head of studio, in a statement. “It made perfect sense for Pretty Little Liars to come to Episode, and we’re thrilled to give people a unique new way to explore the mysteries of Rosewood.”
