I had my doubts about Mass Effect 3, I was worried that it was going to become too action focused. That it was slowly becoming another version of Gears of War, after my first hour playing. Those worries slowly faded….30 hours later, I was completely blown away by the amazing climax of Mass Effect 3.

To truly appreciate this game you must have played the past two, every choice, every ally you made is here to remind you of the journey behind you. The lore of the Mass Effect universe is incredible, it actually meant something to me when I changed a major problem for a species that had been talked about since the first game. It was even more rewarding when I got to have a special moment with one of my favorite characters, I couldn't help but laugh and wonder to myself when did I start to care so much about them? I though about all of our past adventures together, how it was now leading to an impossible moment, defeating the Reapers. In this game your mission is to race around the galaxy, getting support to not only save earth but the whole galaxy as well.

You still get to explore galaxy s and planet scanning makes a return here, but this time around your not scanning for minerals. Your finding "War Assets" which varies from credits to special forces that will help you fight the Reapers. One of the cool things now is when you scan for things, it slowly fills up a Reaper meter. Once full, Reapers come onto the Galaxy map and chase you. It's almost like Pac Man without the maze. The Citadel makes a return and is a hub for side quests. Bioware has almost adopted a JRPG way of fetch quests in here, you walk around, talk to people or over hear their problems. I found it kind of weird when I found what they needed and just showed up saying "hey I got that thing you needed its in hanger 18". Kinda creepy Shepard but he is a hero so no one questions it. Other Side missions have you going to different planet locales, to fight Cerberus or the Reapers. That's right Cerberus is bad again and they are being pretty evil this time around. These side missions almost felt like full fledged story missions, I couldn't tell the difference. I would of loved more variety in them because most of them felt like giant shoot em up galleries.

Combat is as tight as ever, think a fast paced Gears of War with powers. I'm happy weapon customization makes a return, I experimented with several load outs and mods till I found the one that worked for me. You will find a lot of new guns to mess with it, I'm glad Bioware added a more RPG element to your load outs. There is also a great variety in enemies this time around, from hulking mechs to agile soldiers with swords. You never know what your going to run into and it's smart to stay in cover or you will getgunned down brutally.

In the end as I watched the credits roll, I felt an incredibly attachment not only to my character but to this world as well. Say what you will about Bioware's changes to a more fast paced and stream lined gameplay for Mass Effect. One thing is for sure, they are masters of story telling, if you love this franchise. You will be sucked into this story, filled with danger, excitement, laughter and heart break. It's an amazing journey all around, when you finally get to the conclusion, you will either love it or hate but one thing is for certain. Your choices have lead you to this path and that my friends makes it all the more personal and rewarding.
