Jeff is a not exactly a man of mystery. He believes the greatest franchise in sports is the Detroit Red Wings, his favorite food is Tobasco, and he enjoys a good, long bike ride. Then, of course, there are the videogames. He plays those things.

For 21 years videogames have been Jeff’s number one hobby. He received an NES from his family for his fifth birthday; a gift his mother might have reconsidered had she consulted with a crystal ball, a fortune teller, or Miss Cleo. Videogames not only have become Jeff’s hobby, but his passion and his chosen profession.

Now, because Jeff chose this profession does not mean that this profession has chosen him. About five years ago Jeff noticed the 1up.com advertisements in his EGM magazine subscription. It took some time, but he took the plunge and became a full time blogger on 1up.com.

Never being fully satisfied with the experience at 1up, Jeff took the dismantling of Ziff Davis as a catalyst for moving on.

As a co-founder of ForwardsCompatible.com Jeff and his colleagues dissected many issues that face modern gaming.  Recently, Forwards Compatible has folded into Gametopius where Jeff currently does the bulk of his writing. You can also find him as a News Editor on Kombo.com, on twitter at twitter.com/jeffgrubb or on his personal blog at JeffGrubb.com.

Other than videogames Jeff can be found enjoying Detroit and Michigan sports. Well, not last year. Last year he didn’t enjoy anything about Detroit and Michigan sports. But this year Michigan already has three wins and the Tigers may make the playoffs. Also, Pittsburgh may be set on fire — HA! Not that would be a good thing — Jeff is not a fan. The Red Wingsactually won game 7, but Marc Andre-Fleury came back from the future to put himself in front of that last shot by Nick Lidstrom.

His motto is “if you are not a nerd for something you are missing the point of life.” Does he not have a point? Sure, everyone has a job, gets married, has a kid, and dies. But it is our passions in life that give it color and define us. “If you think you are not a nerd for anything, perhaps you should question what it means when you paint your face for a football game. What makes that different than a cosplayer?” Such wisdom.

The thing about Jeff is that he is a nerd about everything. We’ve been over videogames and sports, but he is a deep interest in television and movies.
