I was originally going to write a made-up script for a dungeon quest in Persona 3: FES for the Bitmob challenge. Halfway through, I realized that this wouldn't work for the character I was thinking of. Then I thought that maybe I could mix her backstory with something from Fallout 3. Here's a script I created for this particular quest:

[Main character finishes Galaxy News Radio quest and returns to Three-Dog for a reward. After Three-Dog thanks the main character, he talks about another fishy event happening at a certain high school…]

Three-Dog from Fallout 3

Three-Dog: There was one other thing that I was thinking of asking you. I don't wanna burden you with a lot of favors, but it seemed interesting for a (guy/gal) like you.

Main character: Go ahead. I'm all ears.

Three-Dog: Excellent! Well, I've been hearing ghost stories about something going on in Springvale High School. Word has it that a young girl from Megaton was laying there unconscious. I heard that her father was worried to death. Everyone was glad that he found the girl before she ever got captured by punks in the Wastes. But then she started muttering strange nonsense about how she had to tell some chick that she was sorry.

Who knows? You might be able to find something interesting if you check it out.

Main character: (Four options)

1.      Why should I risk my life over a little girl and some ghost story?

Three-Dog: Oh, you don't have to. I'm just saying that this father would pay a mercenary anything just to make sure his daughter's okay.

2.      Who is this girl who is scared of some ghost?

Three-Dog: Well, I didn't catch the name of the girl herself. But I do know the name of the father. I think he goes by the name of Billy Creel, or something.

3.      Sounds great. Count me in.

Three-Dog: Excellent. Go talk to Billy Creel for more info. He should be wandering around in Megaton City with his daughter. I'm sure you've already him, but I'll mark his location on the map in case you forget.

4.      This is too dangerous for me. No way.

Three-Dog: Okay, if you say so. But it's a great opportunity for you to earn some dough.

[We'll assume that the main character took the job. He/she heads to Megaton City to talk to Billy Creel.]

Billy Creel from Fallout 3

Billy Creel: Oh thank goodness! I heard you took the job. I could really use some help. My daughter Maggie won't stop blabbering nonsense about this girl in Springvale High.

Main character: (three options)

1.      Who is this girl?

Billy: Some blue-haired Japanese chick named Fuuka. Maggie keeps saying that she hurt this girl, for some reason. She says she has to tell Fuuka that she's sorry. I don't know what she'd need to apologize for.

Personally, I think Maggie's out of her mind. I mean, I don't think I've ever seen any blue-haired girl over there. Just a bunch of raiders out there. And I certainly don't want to get my ass handed to me by those punks, if you know what I mean.

2.      How much are you willing to pay?

Billy: Let's say 200 caps. That's a lot out of my paycheck, but I'll do anything to make sure that she's sane again.

3.      Sure thing. I'll check it out.

Billy: Thanks a bunch. And be careful out there. Some of those raiders are packing nasty weapons in there.

[The main character enters the school and fights his/her way to the basement. After defeating a horde of raiders, two super mutants and mutant leader with a minigun, the main character finds a locked door. The player needs a lock pick skill of 50 to open the door. Once inside, the MC encounters a short, blue-haired ghoul girl in a black school uniform.]

Fuuka Yamagishi from Persona 3

Imagine her looking like a zombie. Just for the sake of this script.

Mysterious girl: H-hello? Who might you be?

Main character: I was sent here by Billy Creel to find you.

Girl: Billy Creel? Oh, you must be talking about Maggie. I'm her friend, Fuuka. She told me that she had lost something in this room, so I offered to help her find it. When I walked in, I heard the door lock behind me. The next thing I know, I saw a big, white flash of light. And then somehow, my skin ended up like this.

Main character: (Two options)

1.      I hate to break it to you, but you've turned into a ghoul now.

Fuuka: Yeah, I probably should have expected that happened. I mean, after a big flash, things like that would probably happen. I don't she'd ever want to see me like this.

2.      …You know what happens when your skin ends up like this, don't you?

Fuuka: Yeah, that means that I got hit by something, right? Radiation or something. Or perhaps some sort of atomic weapon or something. I guess things could be worse.

Fuuka continues with dialogue…

Fuuka: But you should tell her not to worry. I can take care of myself. Really, I have this.

(shows main character her Evoker gun)

Main character:(two options)

1.      What is that? A handgun?

Fuuka: No, it's something that I use to release something called a persona. I use it to release a persona from inside my head. Um, it's a long story.

2.      Just a puny handgun? Let me give you a better weapon.

Fuuka: No, it's alright. I can protect myself just fine. Um, I don't think you'd want to see how it works. It might scare you.

Main character: Don't worry about explaining it then. As long as you're safe.

Fuuka: Thanks. I want you to give this to her. It's sort of a gift to her. I want to let her know that I'm okay and that I'm always protecting her.

(Hands the main character her headphones)

Fuuka: I like to tinker with technology. It's sort of a hobby that I took up while I was living down here. Thanks for helping me give these to her. I also have a couple other ghoul friends, if you'd like to rest or get your weapons repaired.

[The main character can now return to Billy Creel for a 200 cap reward.]

What are your thoughts on this scenario? Should someone really mix up a JRPG-style character in a Western RPG? More importantly, is it really ethical to turn a nice, shy girl into an ugly zombie?

…Um, just write your thoughts in the comments below.
