With the “new trilogy” of Halo on the horizon I thought I'd try my hand at a scene on the alleged location of Halo 4 – the Forerunner planet Sigma 7. Of course all I had to work with was the existing trailer, concept art and a supposed info link at some rumor mill site so keep in mind this is purely speculative.
For the purpose of this exercise lets just believe that the game takes place on this mysterious planet mentioned previously. It allegedly has a hollow interior with a “myriad of natural environments”. I only mention this to give the mental picture of the scene. This segment takes place in media res and its purpose would be to substitute for the over saturated on-rails turret sections and quick-time-events as a method of “breaking up the action”. And since the enemies of the next game are unknown at this point, I just thought I'd plug in the Covenant that were familiar with, as well as take a few creative liberties as an ode to a classic favorite.
I also, like Chase, took a modifications to the scriptwriting procedure.
EXT. FORERUNNER BRIDGE STRETCHING BETWEEN MOUNTAIN PEAKS
A vacuous fertile valley lays beneath an intricate
Forerunner bridge, stretching between two towering mountain
peaks. Waterfalls and lush greenery stretch into the
distance, a curvature to the horizon is apparent. A platoon
of grunts and jackals shuffle along a pathway from the
mountain onto the bridge, their wary looks show that they
are searching for something.
Camera tracks in on on the bridge, the platoon a dot moving
across the huge expanse of the structure. View shifts to
looking back across the bridge as the grunts and jackals
walk in the foreground past the camera, a break in the
turbulent clouds can be seen and a lagging grunt turns with
an exclamation, its breath visible on the air. Focus shifts
to background - Chief falls out of the clouds, the sun
breaking through. Dolly in on an alerted grunt, surprise
evident on its face, it signals the platoon and a jackal can
be seen squawking something into a radio device before
running with the rest of the platoon towards the falling
object to investigate.
Camera falls along with Chief, birds eye view overhead
looking down at the bridge. His pistol is just out of his
reach and he clutches for it before looking behind him at
the approaching bridge surface, the wind whips past him
furiously and his offline jet pack falters, trying to orient
himself before impact.
Chief's shields "pop" in a roaring impact and he skitters
across the ground, a thin layer of snow exploding in his
wake. His pistol careens ahead of him, too far along the
bridge for him to reach. Dolly in on Chief sprawled on the
ground, his shields sparking, Cortana barking in his ear.
CORTANA
Chief!
MC (Master Chief) grumbles as he stands up, responding with
a hint of tension in his voice.
MC
Yeah?
CORTANA
Your pistol!
The pistol is seen in the distance with the platoon of
investigating Covenant approaching fast. Close up of Chief
raising into frame, snow coating his armor and shimmering as
his shields regain.
MC
I don't need it.

* Dodge is "abilities" button tapped twice (Tap LB w/ Direction)
* Left/Right trigger control each fist, pressure sensitive, light press = light punch; heavy pressure = heavy punch.
* Double taps of directional left stick make MC quick step.
* Grab with "Melee". Throw with directional stick and (LB)
* Hold both triggers to block frontward oncoming attacks.
As MC rushes towards the Covenant forces they realize what exactly had fallen from the sky. If the player awaits for the covenant to meet them they lose out on an element of surprise and are instead met with gunfire.

SKIRMISH BATTLE - MC/COVENANT PLATOON - (Interactive)
After battle, scripted sequence occurs (First Person)
MC is knocked from bridge by a mysterious shock-wave pulse. He falls at the foot of a stream that leads to a waterfall.
EXT. UNKNOWN VALLEY
CORTANA
Geez, you're clumsy today.
The reflection of the chief in the stream comes into view,
as well as a shadow that looks eerily like the Chief. Guided
camera looks up and sees a shadowy apparition with a glowing
visor that looks oddly like himself.
The Chief grunts in response as he stands.
CORTANA
Chief your jet pack is back online,
whatever this guy is, he's not
Covenant. Bio-scans aren't giving
me anything, I'm not even sure what
its made of!
MC
Lets find out.
BOSS BATTLE - MC/DARK MC - (Interactive)
In order to defeat DARK MC, the Chief must deal enough damage in order to stun him and then grab DARK MC before engaging the jetpack with (X). After raising into the clouds for a certain distance, turbulence shakes the screen and DARK MC can be dropped by releasing the triggers.
EXT. FORERUNNER BRIDGE STRETCHING BETWEEN MOUNTAIN PEAKS
MC drops back down onto the bridge, looking down into the
valley.
CORTANA
John... Lets go.
