One of my favorite authors has posted a thoughtful article about conversational interfaces.
Nir Eyal is famous for writing about how habits form. His book Hooked: How to Build Habit-Forming Products, released in 2014, made a big impact on the folks who make software and design products. It talks about customer engagement in ways that bring the topic to life.
In his new post, he summarizes what works so well about chatbots and A.I in general. In a conversation with a bot (or a human, for that matter), you find out what is important, what to do next, and how to do it. That’s a brilliant summary because it exposes what is not working quite right with mobile apps, especially for new users — and what is working for bots. Eyal provides clear examples of each.
