23andMe lets you look at your genes — for real

Personal genomics is finally here.

23andMe, the Google-backed startup promises to let you search and share your personal genetic information, and now lets you do it a cost of $999 per individual.

Unlike other recent “launches,” 23andMe’s service is available right now. Those who sign up will get a genome scan, stored on the Web in what 23andMe says will be an extremely secure way.
