Evolve is the highly anticipated console and PC game launching on Feb. 10. That multiplayer game pits four human hunters against a player-controlled monster in a kind of cat-and-mouse hunting game. It is expected to be one of the biggest releases of the year — but it won’t tap into the mobile gaming market, which is now a $25 billion business, according to market research firm Newzoo.

Now it can with the companion app. To maximize the impact of that launch, 2K games, developer Turtle Rock Studios, and mobile app creator Cat Daddy Games created Evolve: Hunters Quest for iOS, Windows, Android and Amazon Fire devices.

Evolve: Hunters Quest is a “match 3” puzzle combat game that takes players on more than 100 missions set in the Evolve universe. Players join a team of Hunters on the planet Shear in search of new and unique wildlife and monsters. Players must match three tokens of the same color to unleash attacks on their enemies, fill up energy bars to activate Hunters’ special abilities, and earn Mastery Points to level up their characters. It’s kind of a clone of Puzzle & Dragons, GungHo Entertainment’s popular puzzle-fighting game.

The mobile game also links directly to the main console/PC game for an expanded experience. Players can apply their Mastery Points earned in Evolve: Hunters Quest to characters in the Evolve game on any platform. Players can also discover and unlock unique game art and enhance their console skills by watching replays of their online multiplayer matches from a strategic top-down view.

Cat Daddy Games is owned by 2K, which is a publishing label of Take-Two Interactive Software.
