The 2013 Chupamobile App Developer Competition is over after 45 days of very competitive code fight, and it is time to award the three app developers that submitted the best app source code. Chupamobile, the leader marketplace for app source code, is giving away $45,000 in prizes thanks to great sponsors such as Kii, Appwiz, Revmob and Magicsolver.
“This contest has strengthened our catalog leadership, and thanks to all the incredible submissions we received for the competition, we are giving indie developers an even bigger opportunity to quickly launch an app and try to replicate the Flappy Bird success,” said Paolo De Santis, a cofounder of Chupamobile.
Lots of amazing app developers took part into the contest and submitted so many excellent quality projects, making it hard for the team to settle a final decision. We got beautiful templates, useful components, superfunny games, and astoundingly full apps. Here they are the winners!
1st place
The $20,000 Grand Prize goes to PWD – Password Manager by Ricardo Funk (rfunk82). It’s a project full of amazing features that enables a user to randomly generate passwords and to manage them with a fantastic user interface. Password Manager is a full app complemented with other “mini-apps” that perform separately. It includes a password strength checker, AES-256 encryption, and a self-destruction security feature.
“The Chupamobile competition was the perfect opportunity to complete the password management application I’ve had kicking around in my head for about a year,” Funk said. “Knowing that I was competing against so many talented developers helped me push my limits and find the motivation to perfect every screen. In addition, the Chupamobile team was very supportive whenever I had any questions. In fact, the process was so easy that I’m currently working on my third application submission with them! Thanks, Chupamobile Team!”
2nd place
The runner-up that’s getting the $14,000 prize is Jelly Slash – Addictive 50 Level Arcade Puzzler by RisingHigh! The company, represented by Kevin Wolstenholme, has created this super-addictive puzzle game based on another puzzler, iSlash, which reached more than 2.5 million downloads. Built in Cocos2d, it is very easy to reskin and has four integrated ad network services that will help developers to start making money from day one after the release of the app on the App Store!
3rd place
The $9,500 third prize goes to WeLike – Photo Sharing Social Network by Goran Vuksic (Planet1107). This iOS and Android app is full of great features such as a user timeline, recent and popular posts feed, geolocation and nearby map view, and full photo editor. WeLike is a cutting-edge photo-sharing social network that we think everybody will love.
