5 bots to try this week: SkillFlow, Talkbot, Obie, Quizdom, and Chat with Alice

ChatRoulette is an idea that just won’t die. The idea of spontaneously connecting with strangers for social interactions has taken on several iterations since the original’s debut. Chatible caught our attention earlier this year, and most recently there’s Quizdom, which this week makes its debut on our 5 bots to try list.

However, unlike ChatRoulette, where things got sexually explicit quickly, Quizdom keeps things clean by matching you with strangers to compete over trivia and puzzles. I gave it a try and was connected with Melina. Quizdom asked me the square root of 484 and gave me 45 seconds to answer:

5. Chat with Alice

Alice is a Facebook Messenger chatbot. This chatbot connects various data sources on the Internet like weather information, jokes and translations services. On top, Alice can have quite intelligent conversations

4. Quizdom

Quizdom is a social quiz inside Facebook Messenger. Type ‘random’ to get connected to a player who is currently live, and play a quick quiz match against him or her. After answering the trivia question you can either chat or tap ‘random’ for your next opponent. You can play against past opponents by typing ‘rematch’ and see how you rank in your country with ‘stats’.

To get a list of all commands type ‘help’. Quizdom originated as an app for Android & iOS. It was launched in 2014 in Greece and became the most successful Greek app ever, being 30+ straight days Number 1 at the Google Play Store and Apple App Store, at the same time. It currently has its own prime-time TV-show, which runs in its second season.

Popularity of the top 5 bots on Botlist is based on web traffic to individual bots’ pages appearing on the site, which currently lists more than 11,000 bots. The bot directory says it receives more than 200 submissions each week and tests their purpose, functionality, content, and overall quality before accepting them. This week’s rankings were for the period December 5-11, 2016.
