Now you can see what you are really about to say.

Let’s modify a video game.

We’re in the early days of Fallout 4 still. Publisher Bethesda hasn’t released the modding tools yet. These won’t be available until next year. But we’ve picked through what’s available to help you find the best stuff that is available.

First, you should know that we got all of these from Nexus Mods, and if you’re wondering how you can partake in the fun, check out our guide.

Full Dialogue Interface

By Cirosan and Shadwar
Download here

This mod enables you to see the entire line that your character will say when you choose one of the four options. Typically, in unmodded Fallout 4, you get four options that suggest a tone that you want your character to go for. Sometimes this can leave you guessing about what you’ll actually say. But now you don’t have to worry about that.

Although we should point out that the game is designed around the vague suggestions. We noticed that if you have this installed you might miss out on options that are no longer clear. For example, the head of the Railroad faction asks you what you want for your secret handle, and with Full Dialogue Interface, you get an option that reads “Do you have any suggestions?” But in vanilla Fallout 4, that reads something along the lines of “More names.” Keep that in mind before installing this mod.

Fallout Texture Overhaul Stars

By Gorgulla

If you’ve ever looked up at night in The Commonwealth, you know that the night sky looks incredible with little light pollution. But we can do even better with this mod. It replaces the nighttime skybox with a high resolution texture that has more stars and even slightly brighter and larger stars. It makes the dark outside scenes of Fallout 4 even more haunting and intense.

Improved Map with Visible Roads

By MM137

Modder MM137 has made a crucial change to the in-game Pip-Boy map. This increases the contrast so that it is easier to see the roads and other elements of the landscape. That way it’s easier to tell if you are on the right track or not.

Above: A look at the difference between the map with and without the mod.

Easy Hacking

By Zilav
Download here

This is a simple one. It takes the hacking minigame, which is a simple logic puzzle, and completely eliminates it. Now, when you boot up a terminal that is password-protected, you’ll only see the correct word. You’ll still need the hacking skill to take on Advanced and Master terminals, but even those will only have the single, correct word when you get to them.

Settlement Supplies Expanded

By Troy Irving
Download here

If you’ve spent as much time as we have building up your settlements, this is crucial. Instead of having to pick from a handful of crappy items and pieces of furniture, the SSEx mod opens up every item, piece of furniture, and more from the entire wasteland. This gives you a whole new level of freedom when building up your towns.

We will likely have even more on this particular mod in the future after we’ve had some time to do some serious building with it.

Above: You can put anything from the world of Fallout 4 into your settlements now.
