Adobe now has 6.16 million paying Creative Cloud subscribers, the company said in its latest (Q4 2015) earnings report, exceeding the roughly 6 million subscriber goal it set for the year.

This is a bit surprising. We didn’t expect Adobe to surpass that milestone — it was on track to just barely miss it. Adobe’s subscription businesses has maintained momentum, as the chart below shows.

Adobe reported $1.31 billion in revenue and earnings per share of $0.62 for the quarter. Analysts expected Adobe to report revenues of $1.31 billion (hit that) and $0.60 earnings per share (surpassed it). In regular trading today, Adobe was down by about half a percent. After the bell, Adobe popped by more than 4 percent. Adobe’s Marketing Cloud revenue came in at $352 million this quarter, up from $330 million year over year.

Last quarter was a busy one for Adobe. In November the company’s stock hit a 52-week high — even after it released disappointing 2016 guidance. On the product side, Adobe rebranded its flagship animation tool this month, released its first video editor for Android in November, and debuted a host of new apps and updates during the Max conference for creatives in October.

Overall, we’re looking at a strong quarter for Adobe — noteworthy growth for Creative Cloud, nothing totally mind-blowing happening elsewhere, but also few downsides.

For the full fiscal 2015 year, Adobe reported $4.80 billion in revenue and earnings of $2.08 per share.
