Airbnb has begun rolling out a new feature that allows some hosts to add a third party to help manage their listings. Called Associated Hosts, it’ll be available to a “small percentage of global hosts,” although the company declined to specify what criteria was used to select these individuals.

“We’ve heard from many of our hosts that they’d sometimes like a little extra help with their listing — while also being open and transparent with guests about who they will be dealing with once they arrive,” Airbnb wrote in a blog post today. Additional Hosts supports adding a spouse, trusted friend, or a family member to the host account so managing things like messaging, check-ins, and overseeing the guest’s stay becomes easier.

Airbnb believes this will “enable a more convenient hosting experience,” along with contributing to guests’ peace of mind and overall positive experience when staying at a property.

No specific timeline was given for expansion of the Additional Hosts feature, but it’s likely that business travel certified hosts may be among the group to gain this feature, along with hosts who are very active or have multiple listings.

The news comes buried in a post introducing the company’s Standards and Expectations guidelines, a document outlining the “acceptable conduct and behavior” for any Airbnb listing. The five standards defined by these guidelines are based on safety, security, fairness, authenticity, and reliability.
