The new AMD FX series of processors, including the AMD FX 8-Core processor Black Edition, offers up to 24 percent better framerates in demanding computer games. AMD is launching several new models, including the AMD FX-8350 (4.0 gigahertz), FX-8320 (3.5 gigahertz), FX-6300 (3.5 gigahertz), and the FX-4300. The prices are, respectively, $195, $169, $132, and $122.

The top chip can be overclocked (or run at faster than the recommended specification) to more than 5 gigahertz as long as it has advanced cooling solutions. The FX series has a featured dubbed Turbo Core, which boosts performance where it’s needed while multitasking. With Turbo, the FX-8350 can run at 4.2 gigahertz instead of 4 gigahertz.
The FX Vishera processors are part of AMD’s Volan platform. They use the latest core, code-named Piledriver, the successor to last year’s Bulldozer cores. The new series is manufactured using Globalfoundries’ 32-nanometer manufacturing process, and it has 1.2 billion transistors.
