Google says Android mobile app developers can now develop backend services at the same time that they work on the client-side app.
The company says today that its Cloud Tools for Android Studio enables developers to simultaneously build the service- and client-side of your mobile app.
Earlier this month, Google released Android Studio 1.0, which contained lots of tools for developing for the client. But since the client is far from the whole picture — most apps hook into at least a couple of backend services — Google felt compelled to provide a richer set of tools for back-end stuff. That’s why it created Cloud Tools for Android Studio were created, says Chris Sells, product manager of Cloud Tools for Android Studio.
Cloud Tools puts Google App Engine in the same IDE (integrated development environment) with the mobile client, so that developers can use all of the same Java tools to develop the client-side and the backend of an app. The unification of the tools also helps developers keep the client-side and server side in sync, he said.
