AppDirect adds technical support services to its SaaS app store offering with acquisition of Radialpoint

AppDirect, a cloud-based marketplace featuring hundreds of software-as-a-service (SaaS) apps, has acquired Radialpoint, a cloud and technical support service provider for small businesses.

Founded out of San Francisco in 2009, AppDirect’s online store aggregates hundreds of enterprise apps into a single cloud-based platform, which can then be sold independently around the world. The company claims to reach around a quarter of small businesses through clients such as Comcast, Deutsche Telekom, and Telstra.

Radialpoint, on the other hand, has been plying its trade for almost 20 years since its launch out of Montreal, Canada, in 1997. The company specializes in providing technical support software and related services for the technology sector.

AppDirect said that it will now offer its existing customers “integrated support capabilities,” meaning they can sell human-centric technical support as an add-on to their core cloud service offerings. Indeed, from today, AppDirect is offering a number of premium technical support services, including cloud services support for Microsoft Office 365, a cloud and IT help desk, and consumer technical support.

“Cloud services have become an essential part of running almost any business,” said Daniel Saks, president and co-CEO of AppDirect. “At the same time, business owners still need real people to help them get the most out of those services. “By acquiring Radialpoint, we’re able to help our partners engage the ‘human element’ of sales and support and become trusted partners to their customers.”

Today’s news comes less than four months after AppDirect raised a whopping $140 million round, taking the company’s funding sailing past the $245 million mark.

Existing Radialpoint customers will be pleased to know that it will continue to operate as an independent subsidiary, and the company’s 80+ employees will remain in Montreal, though they will now work for AppDirect.

Radialpoint is AppDirect’s fifth acquisition since 2012. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
