Enterprises that want peace of mind when it comes to their applications running in cloud or virtual environments can outsource management to one-year-old startup AppEnsure, which today launched its Applications Performance Ensurance platform at DEMO Fall 2011.

Founded in 2011, AppEnsure specializes in providing big data intelligence to IT managers. The startup, which has six patents pending, takes a comprehensive look at app infrastructure and services and provides clients with application performance monitoring, data flow intelligence, and infrastructure topology.

The newly launched platform uses big data intelligence to help enterprises proactively govern and monitor their business applications. Specifically, the system provides real-time visibility, line rate correlation, root cause analysis, and predictive feedback.

“Having spent a lot of time in a data center managing the IT teams, with 15 people hovering around, me trying to find root causes of problems, I understand what the company is trying to do,” said Andreessen Horowitz partner Frank Chen. “But if you just put a fabulous UI on top of data that people had been providing for years and years, is that enough? Is it too brittle? Can I actually get to data I need?”

An early version of the technology is currently being used by partners. A downloadable, beta version of the product will be released more widely later this month.

AppEnsure has raised $1 million in seed funding from Citrix Accelerator, TiE, Ignition Partners, and individual angel investors.
