One of the first things Cook did as CEO, for example, was to start matching employee contributions to nonpofit organizations up to $10,000 per year.

“For the past week, our thoughts have been with those affected by Hurricane Sandy and its aftermath,” Cook wrote. “And Apple employees and customers the world over have raised millions of dollars toward the relief effort so far. But we can always do more.”
The sum donated by Apple will join the “millions” donated by iTunes customers and various Apple employees. (If you’d like to donate to the American Red Cross, click here.)
