Today Apple revealed that it shipped 5.519 million Macs over the last holiday quarter — slightly missing analysts’ estimates. But Mac shipments are still up 15 percent this year, compared to the first quarter of 2014.

IDC had expected Apple to sell a record 5.75 million Macs during its first quarter of 2015 (fiscal year) — although most estimates averaged around 5.6 million units.

Like last quarter, Apple’s original gig, selling traditional PCs, is doing quite well — despite the gradual shift to tablets. Back in October, Apple’s Mac sales surged 20% to 5.5M. In July, Apple shipped 4.4 million Macs. In April, 4.1 million. And last January, 4.8 million.

What about iPods?

Last quarter, iPod sales dropped 25% year over year. But this quarter, Apple chose to hide its iPod sales in a category called “Other Products,” alongside the Apple TV, Beats Electronics products, and other accessories. Sadly, we’re now left in the dark on declining iPod sales. Fun fact: This category is also where Apple plans to hide its smartwatch sales stats — at least for now.
