Apple sent out the fifth beta of its iOS 8 mobile operating system to developers Monday, along with a new set of tools for developers creating apps for the forthcoming Apple Watch.
Developers can grab the update in the iPhone’s native Settings application, or at the iOS Developer Center website.
For Watch app developers, Apple released a new prerelease build of Xcode 6.2, containing a set of WatchKit tools.
The new releases are a warm-up for the public release of iOS 8.2, which will contain new code enabling the interplay between the iPhone and the Watch.

Apple CEO Tim Cook says the Apple Watch is coming in April, so iOS 8.2 will arrive sometime before then.
At least to begin with, the Watch will need to be connected to the iPhone to do most of its functions, like running third-party apps, doing mobile payments, screening notifications, and playing music.
The WatchKit developer tools were first delivered to developers as part of the first iOS 8.2 beta in November.
