Apple has announced its Q1 FY2016 earnings, and while it may have beat expectations, there’s some concern as sales of its iPhones have slowed down. But amid all of its financial disclosures, the company revealed that it now has 1 billion “active” devices that are connected to its services.
The company has disclosed the install base of its iPhones in the past, including most recently that 1 billion iOS devices have been sold — the milestone was hit in November 2015. However, this time the number includes not only its smartphones, but also iPads, Macs, iPod Touches, Apple TVs, and Apple Watches, and all this activity took place within the past 90 days.

During the 2015 fiscal year, the install base helped Apple generate $31 billion in revenue, a 23 percent annual increase, and in Q1 FY2016, the company brought in $5.5 billion in revenue, a 15 percent year-over-year change.
So while analysts and pundits are clamoring over the company’s future and the declining sales of the iPhone, Apple wants to put things into perspective and show that its ecosystem of products are still being used.
