Today Apple reported 5,520,000 Mac sales and 2,641,000 iPod sales within its fourth-quarter earnings report. Predictably, Mac sales are up year over year, and iPod sales continue to decline.

During the fourth quarter of 2013, Apple sold 4,574,000 Macs and 3,498,000 iPods. Year over year, Mac sales are up 20 percent, while iPod sales are down by almost 25 percent. Last quarter (Q3 2014), Apple sold 4,413,000 Macs and 2,926,000 iPods.

Investors had expected 4.6 million Macs sold this quarter — Apple simply blew this number out of the water.
