Apple Stores will reportedly start selling Watch bands this week

Apple will begin selling Apple Watch bands in its stores beginning this week, according to a new report Wednesday.

The report, from 9to5Mac, cited a leaked memo sent from Apple to its retail stores.

The bands will be in limited quantities to start out with, and most of them will be fluoroelastomer Sport Bands — the ones that feel like plastic, not the ones made of metal.

The new bands are first meant for people who want to swap out the band that came bundled with their Apple Watch, the memo reportedly said. Some Watch buyers may also want to own and wear two or more bands.

Second, the Apple Stores need new bands to replace the ones that have worn out during in-store try-on sessions.

The memo also said that Apple will begin running advertisements about the availability of the bands.

Apple CEO Tim Cook said yesterday that the Watches themselves, which have been available for online purchase, will begin showing up in stores for purchase in June. A wider selection of Watch bands may show up then, too.
