Pre-orders for the Apple Watch start on April 10, and on that day some important changes will happen with the Apple Store retail experience.
First of all, prospective Watch buyers will reserve a 15-minute appointment with a store rep to look at the Watch, according to a report from 9to5Mac. So if you want to do more than just gaze at a Watch, you will have to be accompanied by a store rep, and will have limited time to look and touch.
Apple will do its best to handle the volume by setting up 10 Watch tryout stations per store, the report says, citing people briefed on the situation. Prospective buyers won’t be required to have an appointment, but, like the Genius Bar, it’ll probably be hard to get a slot by just walking up — at least during the first weeks.
The report says that serious buyers will be given the opportunity during the initial 15-minute look to set up a follow-up appointment to come back on launch day to pick up the watch they chose.
