When Apple unveiled its Watch, hardly anyone bothered to point out that the company omitted a key technology from the wearable: the open Web.
For most of us, this omission makes complete sense. The Web, as it exists today, has no place on the Apple Watch; so far, nothing designed for a modern browser considers the specs or input methods of the device, and that’s not going to change any time soon. Side note: How cool would it be if web developers actually tried to make this work?
But at least one developer is experimenting with the idea: a jail-breaker by the name of Comex shared a video this morning showing what appears to be a semi-functional Google.com running on the Apple Watch. As you’d expect, it’s an awkward mess. You can watch the video here.
It’s unlikely that Comex is trying to prove something with this experiment — it appears the developer is just exploring ways to push the limits of the device. Still, the clip is pretty interesting, if not a bit cringeworthy.
